GOOD FOR OUR COMMUNITY

Mental illness is one of the most pervasive illnesses in New Zealand, with more than one person in five suffering from some form of mental illness. Many people with mental illness have been told that they cannot work, and the loss in productivity in New Zealand represents an astonishing amount annually.

While some people may face physical barriers when trying to access the workplace, those with mental illness face emotional barriers. At Crossroads Clubhouse  we see our role as the 'accessibility ramp' that provides those with mental illness a smooth transition into the workplace.

We believe that, given the right environment, people with mental illness can become productive and employed members of society. Many Crossroads Clubhouse members are willing and able to work.

Combining your employment opportunities with our on-the-job training and support, we can give members of our community suffering from mental illness the chance to work in the competitive job market, receive a paycheck and ultimately improve their self-confidence.

To find out how a good deal can turn into a good deed, contact Crossroads Clubhouse today.

Crossroads Clubhouse can help you fill entry-level positions, complete high-volume repetitive tasks, and meet the demands of peak time work flow.

We can fill typical entry-level jobs with two to four main job duties that can be learned in one week or less, such as (but not limited to)...

  • Dish room Worker
  • Office Assistant
  • File Clerk
  • Mail Room Clerk
  • Indoor/Outdoor Messenger
All the positions we offer our members are part-time, from as little as 2 ½ hours per day, a few days per week, up to 20 hours per week. Often one full-time position is divided into morning and afternoon shifts to create two jobs.

We have relationships with employers in a variety of sectors, including financial, retail, food services, cleaning and maintenance, insurance, law, media and communications, manufacturing, and health services.

Give us a call at 09 376 4267 and ask for the Director and we'll send a staff member over to consult with you.

Our commitment begins with a consultation to make sure that the job is suitable for our membership. This includes sending one of our staff to your work site to learn the job and ensure that the duties can be performed consistently and accurately by our members.

Crossroads Clubhouse members are then trained on the job, by us, until they are ready to perform their work independently, productively, and to your company standards. Maintaining contact with you in order to monitor job progress, our staff will gradually withdraw from the work site as the members become confident and proficient at their job duties.

Members are paid directly by you at the prevailing hourly rate for the job; Crossroads Clubhouse does not receive a commission or referral fee. Should a member be absent for any reason whatsoever, a staff member will cover the job at no cost to you. In the event that the job match is not suitable, we will also provide coverage until a replacement has been recruited and trained.

The job you provide will be performed by a member for up to nine months. Once they have completed their placement, that member will leave to pursue other opportunities. We will then recruit and train a new member to replace them.
